First ... Singapore ...

In September I was lucky enough to get a chance to do 6 weeks teaching sea kayaking on Palau Sibu in Malaysia. It was terrific fun and met some great people.

The island was near Tioman (mecca for diving backpackers!), about 100km north of Singapore on the East Coast of the Malaysia Peninsula (South China Sea). There were 6 of us instructors - Dan, Mike, Madi, Greg, Dave and myself and a speed-boat Captain - Brad. Each week we would spend 4 days kayaking around the island (16km) with a group of 23 kids. One of the nights we would camp out on 'The Spit', the kids would camp a second night too - we got to go back to air-con!!

But first - on the way there I had to stop in Singapore .....

These incredible towers hold a mass of jumbled orchids and epiphytes all the way up their 'trunks' and twice each evening they hold a 'Garden Rhapsody' which is a light and music show around these towers. Pretty spectacular

And then I took time to hang out in the Jurong Bird Park ...
